A Snow Day

When we walked outside this morning, it felt like we had traveled to a different state in our sleep! Every surface outside of our home in Macon is covered with the whitest, purest layer of snow. I'm like a child when it comes to snow -- I think it's magical and one of the most beautiful things to see. All of the snow fell after sunset last night, so the view was a pleasant surprise this morning! I am loving working from the comfort of my sofa today, and enjoying the snowy wonder with my husband and Cooper. It is just so pretty, I had to share!

When the snow started last night, we admired the snow fall under the flood lights.

And here's our house at about 10:30 last night.

The view down our street this morning - so quiet and serene.

Cooper was very unsure of the snow this morning when he went out for his break. He traveled behind the bushes where there was no snow. But, when we went out to play with him, he grew to love the white fluff.

By the way, Cooper got a fleece vest from Santa this year. It's almost as if Santa KNEW he was going to need it!

The golf course behind our house is just stunning in the snow. The trees, the rolling hills...it's so pretty. And, the kiddos in the neighborhood have already caught on that the hole 4 fairway is the place to be for snow sledding! So much fun!

A Winter Floral Wonderland Wedding

When I created my blog, I didn't plan on covering my day-to-day work happenings in my posts. However, when you work at James Farmer Inc., you get to do some cool things that are worth sharing every now and then! Last week, we worked on a wedding that was absolutely breathtaking, and I've been dying to share the details!

The bride and groom are dear friends of James and asked the JFI team to be a part of their special day back in April. We've been planning away for months and were thrilled for the big day to be here (probably just as much as the bride). Since I have such a love for all things "wedding," I love it when our work week consists of wedding flowers and installation! Last week, we headed to Atlanta on Wednesday evening in order to start on the wedding flowers first thing on Thursday morning. Most people don't realize how much goes into wedding flowers...pickup, conditioning, arranging, tying, transporting, designing...the list goes on.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta. The ceremony took place in the courtyard under a clear tent with beautiful chandeliers and an ivory runner down the length of the aisle. The setting alone was beautiful but the altar that the JFI team put together finished the enchanting look.

Here's the only picture I got at night with the candles lit. It was so pretty!

At the wishes of the bride, we turned the PDC ballroom into an elegant winter wonderland. We brought in white planter boxes and lit trees to create a romantic avenue through the ballroom.

For the arrangements, we used a mix of white blooms, seeded eucalyptus, and orchids. On the buffets and bar, we used large arrangements with just orchids and greenery atop white temple jars for simple yet beautiful statements.

Gorgeous food displays!

The cake was so yummy and just beautiful. I love simple cake designs with minimal flower detail. Here's the Farmer at work.

Here are a few of the arrangements tucked around the club for the reception.

And finally our hardworking team after the wedding (minus James, Jess and Paula)! We love our clients and loved being a part of this wedding.

In The New Year

We've been busy little bees since the calendar rolled over to 2014. Both of us one year older, we're feeling better than ever and excited to tackle the adventures that the new year brings! 2013 was a very exciting year for us, but I have a feeling 2014 is going to leave its mark too! First things first, how did you bring in the new year?

Did you get a jump start on your 2014 fitness resolutions??

We celebrated on New Years Eve with our Macon friends at the home of Chris and Victoria Burdeshaw. They were so sweet to host a dessert and champagne party! We had a blast, and yes, we really did try out Vic's new weighted hula hoop.

Try this Skinny Funfetti Dip recipe that I made. It's so good!

The following weekend, Brince and I went to Atlanta to surprise my cousin, Hollie, for her 30th birthday! Her husband Wesley planned a special night on the town for Hollie and all of her friends. We enjoyed dinner at Noche and went to Prive to dance the night away. Everyone had such a blast, Hollie was thrilled, and we all stayed up way past our normal bedtime.

Here are Hollie and Wesley. 30 looks great on her, right?!

Stay tuned to the blog in the near future! I plan on sharing some of my 2014 goals, resolutions, and overall muses.
